With the Birdy Hybrid 2009 Folding Electric Bike, the cyclist's efforts are assisted by an electric motor in the back wheel. The battery is carried in a small removable handlebar bag. 8-speed derailleur gears provide reliable shifting, and folding is unaffected by the electric-assist system. The 250 W motor in the rear wheel assists your pedalling up to a speed of 25 km/h (in accordance with regulations).
